What are your favorite fabrics for tapestries dyed with procion dyes?

I love Savannah Lawn from Kauffman's--be far the best I have worked with. It is pricey, but it is PFD mercerized fabric with a light weight and meium thread count.

I have also used Kona Cotton and some Pimtex both from Kauffman's.

Believe it or not, I still have not dyed with sheets.

I like rayon sarongs because they are prehemmed, and rayon dyes brightly (like mercerized cotton).

So far, I have used bleached muslin for 4 tapestries, and I have dyed one sheet.  The sheet is of an industrial-type cotton, and I probably should have scoured it a lot more before dyeing.  Lots of white left over.  The muslin took the dyes well, and has a nice finish.  So far, I haven't done any with rayon.  I intensely dislike the feel of rayon, and don't like how I have to fight to get it to fold, so it is unlikely I will use it for anything.

The only tapestries that I have done have been on some very nice but high thread count egyptian cotton. With the right penetration of dye, they take the color great. The only drawback is the high thread count, requiring a bit more dye in my experience.

Of course I nver mind dyeing silk cheesy

All I have used are the Ikea Sova sheets which I am happy with and the S150 Cotton Sheeting Unbleached from ProChem which took the dye very well. Marg
