What are your favorite mixing tools?

I really like my hand blender! I can use the regular blender attachment or a whisk. It can handle as much as 2 gallons or as little as a half cup. I clean it up by turning it on under a stream of water.

I have some 1 gallon jugs with a wide mouth and handle. I mix soda ash and chem water w/ alginate by shaking in these. I also use a whisk sometimes in the cordless drill chuck and mix my colours in the mason jars by shakin'

my mom got me a milk foamer (for lattes and cappucino) for xmas. of course i had to use it for mixing dye... its like a little battery operated hand blender. it truly rules

I work in a lab, so I have access to stir plates and large flasks.  I can also (cautiously) heat water to help get the soda ash into solution while I'm stirring it. I also have a large collection of dollar store plastic spoons.

I don't use a tool exactly, I mix dye in empty dye pots and shake to mix it.

I have been using recycled butter tubs, a dedicated set of measuring spoons, the toe of an old nylon stocking, and occasionally a dedicated whisk for awhile now -  nothin' fancy...

Thought it amusing and figured I'd post about it.  Amusing? in a sad kind of way.

Here I post, so cavelierly about shaking my dye, and I do!  And I've never had a problem with dissolving.

Enter the current order of black...good grief!  I am using dharma's better black and this batch seems to be very heavy on the red.  Blue bleed? Hardly.  Red grit sludge? You bet.  Now I'm mixing gallons at a time and it's very frustrating.

You hear that a lot about pre-mixed colors from that supplier. I've decided it's easier to just order my pre-mixed dyes elsewhere.

Honestly never have had the problem with better black before, unfortunately I recently purchased 5 pounds of this stuff

I'll be looking at their competitors blacks.

They say to just filter out the insoluble fuschia, but who knows how the color balance will be changed without it. Also, some have complained of bits of fuchsia precipitating back out of pre-mixed colors even after the dye solutions have been filtered.
