When the old site went away, so did a lot of content. We need to pitch in and start creating new content of our own: Instructions, procedures, etc. for everything from folding to mixing dyes.

Anyone up for collaborating and creating new content?

Kathy has done a great job leading the way in terms of providing some great content with her photo tutorial! There were some great suggestions for other content too--such as the application of dye/color, examples of final results, etc.

I suspect that we can all pitch in in small ways and grow this project. I'll bet most of us have a digital camera. Heck, I don't even think video clips are out of the question (within reason--Bandwidth!).

I really am intrigued by the wiki model. With this a group of users (in some wikis--anybody on the site) can create, add to or contribute to an article. For example with Kathy's star mandala post, another user could add variants in folds, add pictures that illustrate the results, or link to an article on applying dye/color and color combinations. If there are problems, an article can be reverted to earlier versions.

Thanks again Kathy!

Can you use any of the old content that you wrote? Quite a lot of it is still available via Google's cache.

Thanks Paula--

I have looked for content at archive.org as well. I'll grab what I can from that FAQ. I'd really like to recover some of my posts on the forum itself, as would others. I really wish I had archived the site and my posts when I started to get a suspicion that the forum might disappear!

Any more ideas?

Drat. It looks like Google's cached pages from fiber-arts.com have finally expired.

I saved a few of the threads I posted on, most of the tie-ups illustrations,  and a few of the various FAQs as PDF or webarchive files. (I'm not even sure what a webarchive file is, but the text from them opens up fine in my web browser.) Do you want me to email you any of the FAQ pages?

Paula--

I'll take what you have. I want to be careful to extract just that which I wrote though. I don't suppose it would be right to use Michael's content.

I'll pm you may email.

Thanks!
