I am hopeless at understanding the chemistry of tie dye, maybe someone can help me with this! I soda-soaked a shirt and let it dry, planning on tie-dyeing it. That was my last shirt in that size, and I just got an order in for a dip (immersion/vat) dye in that size. Can I wash out the soda and start over again with immersion dye? I don't think I want to dip it now, the soda ash will get out into the dye bath (with other non-soda-soaked items) and stop the process too soon, I think. So, my question is, can I wash out the soda ash with a normal washer cycle, or should I bite the bullet and go get more shirts in this size? TIA!

Soda ash washes out easily. It had better, it's a major ingredient in most laundry detergents.
