I have wondered how these are done... is the design all in the string tieing?  has anyone ever tried to do something like this?  how come when i get white in my mandalas it isn't cool white like this???

I haven't done it myself, but Michael did it at the workshop at ProChem last August. He tied up some designs, then immersion dyed the pieces.

He got some cool effects.

Real tight string...



This one is blue violet with black brushed over, technically imersion dyed with an extra step...

OK, I hope I can ask this here without posting out of context but it is about mandalas.
I tried to post this somewhere this morning so it might be floating somewhere here.
I came across this artist on Dharma's website. How does someone do this? The work is beautiful. Is this thickened dye painted on? I'm very new. So new I haven't even purchased Dharma's dyes yet. I was using RIT. I know, you probably think that so virgin.
Anyway, here's the link to the artist. Scroll down and check out her mandalas. Please tell me how someone would do that.
