Hey Steve...just I had say I like the use and combination of colors in the mandala you have at the top of the forum.
Just out of curiousity what is the orangy color into the brown? Is it rust orange and a brown of sorts?

I am glad someone shares my partiality to the use of oranges and browns with the blues spectrum Cheesy

Thanks for the kind words.

Let's see if I remember.

The background starts with Prochem Rust Orange, Prochem Burnt Orange (Jacquard  Rust Orange), Pro Rust red, Jac Rose Brown, and Pro Chocolate Brown.

The Mandala is Turquoise, Pro sage, and Pro Deep Purple.

I think that's it--I think. I'll have to go out to the shop and double check.

Great stuff Steve! And to think I knew you when you first started on your foray into serious dyeing(sniff, sniff!)
What's interesting though is that if I want to get a similar color scheme on the outer edges(the brownish coppery color) on silk I would use raspberry and golden yellow. Browns don't fair to well on silk. The colors tend to seperate a bit and the red overpowers the green thus giving a red rust color. To balance this I generally add a bit of turquiose or green to my premixed brown.

God, I really  just love your use of colors!

I have also worked some variants on that theme--I often start with golden yellow MX-3RA, then go onto the rest of the colors.

Other times I work with redder hues throwing in Red MX-5B and Prochem's Turkey Red--that's one combination I really like!
