News: Happy Birthday iTieDye!

This day marks the fourth birthday of iTieDye--my first foray into a dynamic website. Now iTieDye shares a server with many other projects: wikis, blogs, ecommerce stores.

As longs as there is traffic iTieDye will remain as a noncommercial and advertising free source of tie-dye information.

In the upcoming few months we will migrate to yet another server with more resources and up to date software funded by my online store iBlankWear.

When I took M. Fowler's tiedye class two years ago, I bought a couple of mens, long sleeve, american apparel shirts from him.
Since they were men's shirts, they didn't fit my body. I finally altered them both so I could wear a M. Fowler shirt!

I can't seem to get a picture in the gallery, so here's a link for the first shirt:

I cut the sleeves off this shirt, used one sleeve to make gussets to insert in the sides of the shirt. I cut the hem off and cut the neckline down and left all the cuts unfinished.

The second shirt:

This shirt I left long sleeved, but I shortened the sleeves. I also lowered the neckline; I used the hem of the first shirt as the binding for the neck. I used my own dyed knit for the side gussets. All the cuts were finished on this shirt. I can't wear this shit now - it's much too hot here!

I'm also posting these shirts to show you a couple of Michael Fowler shirts and his color choices.

Nice job of altering!  You really know your way around a sewing machine!  And thanks for sharing Michael's work with us.... I haven't done a double lightning bolt in awhile, but I sure like how they turn out.

I've been wearing the second t-shirt in the above posting, lately (M. Fowler's altered long sleeve T).
I didn't wear it last winter because it seemed too loud for me at the time, but this winter it's just right.
The picture doesn't do it justice, really; it's very colorful and bright. I'm so glad I acquired the shirt!

And, when I wear it out, the odd person will gravitate over to me and say "Nice Shirt!" and I see people eying me.

So if anyone here is in contact with, or can contact Michael Fowler, let him know that his work still gets attention!
And tell him that I'm grateful to him for giving the tiedye class at prochem a few years ago.
I'm going to go tie some dishtowels now................

Good job! Actually I've never got Mike Fowler's shirt in the swap that was organised when he had own web site. I even never got reply from him if he has got shirt I did for him - when he stayed in Australia. So if anyone is in contact with him, just tell I'm sorry that he is not communicating any more.
