I found a men's lightweight cotton T (Merona brand) at Target, 3 to a pack, $5.99 + tax. There was another type also for $7.99 for 3-the neckline was sewn differently. There are no neck tags - the info is printed. I like that. They seem to run a little on the small side.
These are not sewn with cotton thread, but the way the hems are done, you can barely tell (I like that too).
These shirts take the dye nicely. I have 6 pictures of them in the gallery - lightning fold types.
It's a good thing - 2 bucks a T and a place to buy in town.
Now I guess I'll have to check wallyworld too.

Watch out for stain-resistant t-shirts, which might be all you can find sometimes at places like Walmart. Stain resistance can be a big problem for dyeing.

For little more than the $2 you can get a much higher quality T-shirt from any number of wholesalers. The quality of the fabric and the cut is superior. Ask for case prices and they will give it to you. I like Gildans for price and quality.
