I am interested if anyone any has ever made a tie-dye press. What I mean by this is creating a pattern using wood or metal to keep dyes out of certain places. Would this be considered like batik? Has anyone does this?

Karren Brito has some nice illustrations of fold and clamp shibori. You can get the clamps at a hardware store.

I have undertood the question little bit different way...I guess it was described more like itajime.

Same thing - "Itajime" in Japanese is translated as "fold and clamp" in English.
