Hey everyone!

I am a silk painter from Michigan.  My partner bugged me to get us into tie dye and we are hooked.  Been lurking for a while here.  Found the famous PAULA BURCH!  Hi Paula!  I caught the dye everything that moves bug!  I will be asking some question very soon!  Our first batch of tie dyes was a blast.  My kids never take them off. I will admit they are better than I at it since they are not so worried about the result!

I want to replicate some design ideas I have and well, I don't know if that is possible with tie dye!  We have run into some problems.  The problem is probably me haha!!  grin I love this forum cuz this stuff can be unpredictable in a beginners hand!

Nice to meet ya'll!

Hi Kelly!  Welcome to the forum!  I can certainly relate to you when you say you worry about the result...I love to dye but am not as  prolific as I would like to be, as I also really enjoy studying the method and sometimes spend more time thinking than dyeing.  At least your kids can offset your tendency to worry, so you can learn from them too!  I look forward to seeing some of your artwork!

Hi, Kelly! (So I'm famous, huh?)

When I started dyeing, I was doing baby clothes because I couldn't find any baby boy clothes that were not ugly and boring, so everything I did was automatically a great success, just by comparison to what I found in the stores. Now if I dye something that I don't like, I just overdye it, and the more intensely colored results always make me happy. Either way, I don't worry very much.

Hi Kelly!

I'm from Michigan, too!  I've dyed and painted fabric for many years, but have been on hiatus for about five years.  The spouse just finished a dyeing place for me in the garage with all the goodies and I'm ready to go.  It's hot and muggy, so the weather is perfect.  I'll post some results when I have them.

The mail guy delivered Michael Fowler's CD this AM, and I really want to do mandalas.

So glad I found this forum.
