ok so my friend has made me a tie-dye cloth, and i say cloth because it's probably nothing most of you would need (long story). the cloth is just cotton. i have no idea what brands or types of dyes she used and i really don't know if that matters at all. but the colors are mostly brighter colors. so what on what settings should i wash this? and with what other garments(lights or alone)?

It probably does matter what kind of dye was used. If it was dyed with fiber reactive dyes such as MX dyes, you can wash it in the washing machine like you normally would and use whatever temperature of water that suits you. For RIT dyes, I would only use cold water, because they are much more likely to bleed and fade. I'm not sure what other dyes someone would use on cotton. You might want to find out what was used to dye it before you try to wash it.
