Ok here is my How to fold a Stone Cold Heart!  grin
Start with a damp shirt. Fold in half

Draw a half heart. I make em big and with a pronounced cleft. (The mark is darkened to show where it is. It didn't show up in the pic very well. So I made it black in the pics)

Next accordian fold along this line. (Ok my puter skills are showing! rolleyes ) I try to make em kind of small and tight.

Fold all the way along the line. Making it STRAIGHT as possible. I us both hands while folding and gather more on one side than the other to make the line turn. I couldn't really fold too much and still take pics, so here it is folded with one rubber band doubled over ontop of the line.

I add rubber bands from there. Sometimes on both sides of the line. I did on this shirt.

The line is actually where the black and the red are.
When I added color, I din't shove the tip into the shirt. I just add repeated layers over the top and let it sink in.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

That is great and your dye projects are beautiful. Thank you for sharing this. I will be dying a heart next week. I didn't know how to do it. You solved that for me.
Thanks again!

Can't wait to get a DVD and learn more patterns...........

The hearts came out really well! Thanks for asking. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I just started school and I work full-time, so I won't be able to tie-dye much at all anymore. But, I really want to thank you for that tutorial! It kicked ass and the hearts came out beautiful!

The heart was the first thing I got down good. Oh that and circles.
I've tried tieing them tight and loose. It's all how you want it to come out. More white tie tight! Gosh a poet and don't know it!

Now see, I tie my highest saturation work the tightest, anything that should have a little white in it (like the pastel girls dresses I posted pictures of) is tied with rubberbands and looser.

Thank you so much for this post.  I have been trying to figure it out for ages.  With the pictures, it seems so much easier...if not easier to do, easier to understand.

Hearts are great! I started with stitching (what a PIA) and the halo completion. After selling very few hearts I started doing a yoke, with a small heart inside the yoke. They started flying off the rack almost as fast as the peace signs. Here's a samle of what I mean....

Well, none of the hearts turn out perfect, but as long as they have the heart shape, customers are happy.

I made myself some heart shirts, but posted about it in another thread, though, relating to the scrunch I used around it.  My first two tie-dyes, check them out!

I'd like to do a pink LWI-looking heart surrounded by solid black.  Any ideas or suggestions on how to do this?

I think you can achieve LWi look by "chaos/scrunch" fold. I'd advice to do pink first, cover in with foil and them do black part.
