Hello All,

My name is Suzanne.  I'm a wanna be glass artist who's hands have gone bad.  This past week is the most I have been on a computer since June.  I'm trying to learn beyond the basic sunburst that I learned in fourth grade.  Since I am unsure if I will ever go back to working on a computer again, I thought it would be cool to start an event business teaching kids/adults tie dying and perhaps silk painting.  I did a tie dye party once at work and it was crazy fun.  Unfortunately I couldn't afford the good dye and just used the stuff from the grocery store, but it still opened folks eyes as to how easy and fun it can be.  One woman even did it at home with her twins and she just glowed as she told me about it.  Ah, the warm, fuzzy feeling.

Anyway, I'm in the DFW metroplex in Texas.  It's still hot despite that it is suppose to be fall.

I'm tieing up some shirts and muslin for grins and giggles and just to see if my hands will tolerate it.  Rubberbands aren't bad unless I use my right hand at some awkward angle.  I have some sinew out yonder and am seriously considering grabbing it and trying it, especially on the spiral.  That's a tough one to bind!  And I'm trying that triple spiral.  That's even harder to bind!  But it feels good to be doing something productive.

Steve, if you are still needing assistance transferring data, I would be glad to help.  I've been doing tech support for over 10 years, so I think I can work with minimal instruction.  Just let me know.  It would be good to have something constructive to do as well as push my limits, see how well things are really healing up.

Thanks for a great site!

Hi Suzanne. Just wondering if you've tried using Dragon's "Naturally Speaking" instead of typing? My dad has a consulting business and he's a "hunt and peck" typist, so he's been using this. Works pretty well and would save your hands.

I've considered that.  The research and testing adds up but maybe with the note taking portion taken care of, maybe the rest wouldn't be so bad.  Thank you for mentioning it.  I thought perhaps I was being eccentric in considering doing something like that.
