I am desperately looking for white or natural cotton (or hemp)  ladies knee socks. Organic would be great.

I have searched alll over the internet and can't find any!! It seems like such a basic item but no one has them. Maggies has the closest thing to what I am looking for-- only they are only like 55% organic cotton Sad
Found one other place that has 70% cotton knee socks. Is that enough cotton to get a good dye?

70% seems a little low to dye brightly, but it depends on the knit. They might be good. Vermont Country Store has some women's knee socks in 93% cotton, and in large sizes, too. Not organic, though.

Paula, do you mean the trouser socks?  All the other ones seem to be cable knit and less than 93% cotton.  Do you know how thick the trouser socks are?

Thanks!

Here is a sock website......

http://www.sock-dreams.com/_shop/edit/index.php

I don't think that you will ever find an all cotton knee high sock; they wouldn't stay up.
There's always going to be some other material in them for structure.

Sock-dreams is a wonderful website for sockophiles.

Those are the ones I was thinking of, yes, the trouser socks. If they're the ones I have, they are thin but stretchy.

I used, if I remember correctly, an Adidas soccer
sock a few years ago. It wasn't organic cotton but
it did have high cotton content, it was knee high
and they dyed up great. You could check sport sock
suppliers.......just a thought.

I have had no trouble getting brights on socks that are 85% +, and tights.  I find though, with the socks, that any ribbing etc. doesn't dye as well due to the non-natural fibers. Not organic, though, either.
