I have several aprons here I want to dye, but they are heavy cotton duck and I am not sure how they will do with dye?  Anyone tried them? Maybe I should just skip the dyeing and paint them!

I've had trouble getting dye to penetrate cotton canvas, but paint tends to wear off so much more quickly than dye that I still prefer the dye. Trying soaking them overnight with a drop of Synthrapol or hand dishwashing detergent, then dye as usual with fiber reactive dye.
