Hi everybody, first post, but I have been reading this forum for sometime. Has anybody ever tried using steam to set their dies? I'm wondering inorder to speed things up if I could steam my work in heat safe plastic bags? Kind of like making perserves. Steam gets up over 100c and will not burn anything.

Any thoughts?

P.S. Paula, if you read this I love your site!!!

I often microwave (in a dedicated microwave) my tiedye wrapped up in newspaper in plastic bags for the fast batch.
Steaming could certainly be an alternative for another way to fast batch. You should give it a try.
Of course mx dyes were developed for the room temp batch, so we don't have to mess about with the steam pot, etc.
I'll use a heating blanket in the winter to batch. In the summer, I'll put the newspaper wrapped tiedye in black plastic garbage bags out in the sun to batch. Some people put the black plastic bag in the hot car to batch.
