I can't decide between tshirt types. hanes beefy-t's are kind of the standard in tshirts. they are noticably softer than the anvil's and I think they are cut a little better. sleaves aren't as long. but the prepared for dye look looks a little better I think for tie-dye I think. so its a trade off either way I think.

what do you all use?

Gildan's heavyweight 6.1 ounce cotton tees, the PFD ones sewn with cotton thread, are my standard.

I like FOL Lofteez, even though they aren't sewn with cotton thread, because I like the V-neck version. I can't stand to wear a crew neck shirt, because it irritates my neck.

I use beefy-t's for the most part and Gildan's occasionally.
Some of my customers prefer the sizing of the Gildan's better.
The youth sizes of Gildan run quite a bit bigger.

I order my t's from SanMar. They don't carry a PFD for the
Hanes Beef-T's. Where do you order Hane's PFD from?

Thanks,
Jo

beefy-t's are not pfd thats why I'm torn between anvil pfd and hanes beefy-t. the stitching on the back of the neck looks pretty bad on the beefy-t's and the darker the dye is in that area the more it shows.

Beefy-t's are a nicer tshirt cut wise and softness wise though.

This is the shirt I use. It's not a PFD, but I never cared about that since it is recommended to pre-wash/scour your shirts even if they're PFD. This is a Gildan 6.1oz.  Peace, Marg

Gildan 2000 are my favorite. I prefer them over hanes and anvil.

Get a Broder's or Alpha (same company) account and they can be had for $1.32 each on sale and it seems they have sales all the time.

the part of PFD I'm talking about is that they have cotton thread so the thread takes the dye so the stiching doesn't remain white.

seems like you all like the gildan 2000 quite a bit. to me the gildan is just okay. I think in direct comparision I like beefy-t first, anvil second, gildan 3rd, fruit of the loom last.

for tie-dye I like the anvil pfd because of the cotton thread. I'm looking into other companies that use cotton thread right now though so I can have some more options.

To each their own--I have dyed scores of each.

Gildan does have a pfd T. It's just harder to find.

I'll check my sources. None seem consistent about having them.

Do you have an account with a few major t-shirt distributors like San Mar or Broder?

Having quickly scanned Broder (Alpha), I see only Gildan pfd @1.61 each case price (which they give everyone who asks from what I can tell).

Anything in an organic would work as well. I see an Anvil organic T.

No pdf or organic Hanes came up, but a thorough search may yield something not turning up in the searches--they are quirky.

I'm good--many list it as an option, but stocks are irregular at times. I see Broder now carries kid size pfd shirts--that's new since I looked.

But--I don't get to dye much these days anyway. The summer bakery trade has grown so much that I don't much time.
