Has anyone had any experience dyeing cotton-spandex garments? Leggings, for example? If so, what is the highest ratio of cotton to spandex that will yield good results? I have some that are 90%cotton/10%spandex. Also, I know spandex is sensitive to bleach, so... thoughts on discharging? I have read the other threads here but didn't see anything too specific. (I could have missed something  grin )

Thanks!

Haven't done any discharge on anything with spandex, but FWIW I've done some kids' leggings and some tees that are 5-10% spandex and gotten good results tie dyeing.

I have dyed 13% spandex and it does fine.  My best results were using low water immersion as opposed to tie-dye.  Here's an example:

And I didn't know about not discharging on spandex, so thanks for the heads-up!

Judy that yoga set looks amazing!!! Were the pants white to start with & if so, where on earth did you get them? Double cool!

I will have to try this. I have some aging purple dye to use up anyway. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks!  Yes, both the yoga pants and the shelf-bra cami are Bella Brand, and started out white.  I buy them from The Americana Company, http://www.americanasportswear.com/index.html.

Thanks Judy! I don't have a resale license but I will try to find the bella stuff somewhere. I did see the pants on http://www.shirtsupplier.com/index.cfm    but i don't know if the prices are comparable. They are close to $14 - before shipping costs. Which seems like an ok price if you can sell them for a profit. The actual wholesale price you can get with a license may be better but I'm not anywhere close to creating a business yet. My local yoga studio had expressed an interest in some custom work so I'm checking into it. I appreciate all of your feedback.

I really love your stuff. (I'm repeating myself here.) You have such an appealing style & your pics always inspire me!

I get them for about $3 less at my supplier, so you're in the ball park.

Thanks for your kind words.  Here's a little more inspiration for you -- I did another yoga set yesterday using Dharma's Bronze, and I just love the way the spandex forms patterns when I scrunch it!

Have fun!  And good luck with the yoga pants!

Cool pinkish-violet outfit! Why there's only such small piece from bronze yoga set seen?

Okay, Jaja.  Here's the whole outfit:

I was just showing off the 'scrunch' pattern on the previous post... love that scrunch!

Judy,
That set is from Bella? What are the straps on the cami made of? How is the wt of the material?

I really do love your color combos. You have an eye for mixing colors.

Yes, they are Bella Brand.  The straps are elastic, which is why they pick up the color differently.  But I like how they complement the rest of the garment.  The weight is heavier than just cotton, but not uncomfortably so.  It has body and drapes well.  And thanks for the compliment on the colors!  I have always loved color, and I think my eye has matured some since I began to tie-dye... used to always gravitate toward very bright, but I'm learning to really appreciate more subtler colors now.

Thanks for sharing picture of new pieces - I like it's color very much. And one more question - was it in the same dye bath?
