Hi, all.  Thanks, Steve for starting this forum and inviting me to join!  I have missed your posts from Michaels forum, and look forward to more informative discussions!  I am still very active in the tie-dye world, and have been creating purses and totes this winter to sell at the crafters co-op I joined in December.  I have an 'angel' who has been buying a lot from me, and I may be doing a wholesale t-shirt order for her hubby, who belongs to a union and wants to sell shirts at union events with their logo.  I haven't been doing any mandalas since my efforts last summer.  I can't come up with a way to make them small enough to fit on my purses or totes!
I'm posting a picture of one of the purses I recently finished.  I dye the
pre-cut fabric, then sew it... lots easier than trying to dye the finished product!

So tell us what you have been up to, Steve other than creating this forum!

Thanks,

Judy

Great to see you here Judy! Thanks for popping in. I'm glad to see you have been actively dyeing and finding customers!

Let's build a new community here. As I become more acclimated with the ins and outs of this web stuff--who knows what we can do here!

Hi Steve,
I met you at Michael Fowler's class at ProChem last august.  I felt bad that Fiber-Art went away and am glad that you popped up again.
I tied a lot of shirts for xmas gifts this past xmas, but am not selling yet, but trying to get that together.
Again, nice to connect with you, Steve.

Hey--

Great you made your way here! I hope we can create another great community here. I want to make this the source for great tie-dye information on the Internet and with everyone's help we can do this!

Who knows--we might even get some variant of the mall up and running!

Giving Tie-dyed Christmas gifts is a great way to save money during the holiday $$$$ crunch and always goes over well.

I found Paula's forum a few weeks ago, but hadn't posted until tonight.

Then I found more messages to read there, and found your post about here, Steve!  So, here I am!

I really missed Michaels forum when it went away.  I missed all of the people and information there...  so I'm very happy to have found both Paula's forum and this one.

I'm fixing to (tie)dye soon... next weekend probably.  My work hours are even worse than they were, and I just haven't had time since last fall to do anything but some washing machine dying.

I just applied to join the local farmers market thing, it's quite reasonable at only $10 a year and 5% of sales.  Right now it's mostly craft stuff, so I should fit right in.  And later on I'll be able to unload some of my excess garden produce, lol!  I have to be approved first, of course, but the woman in charge didn't think there would be any problem with that, just need a home visit first to make sure my vegetables are grown here.  She could tell by my tie dyed shoes that I make my own stuff, but if needed I can pull out jars of dyes to show someone, lol!  The tie dye stuff will be my primary product anyhow.  I hope to make up for the fiasco of last fall, the main tourist  weekend where I only sold 7 shirts!

Never did get my web page off the ground, the picture taking/editing/etc. was just too time intensive.  And time is what I really don't have.  Need about 5 of me, lol!

Anyhow, I'm glad to have found y'all again.  Now I have to go wash the dye off my hands...  I've been washing dye jars and didn't think to wear gloves for that, silly me....

hugs,
Vyx

Hi, Vyxx.  Glad you found us.  I was having serious forum withdrawals until Paula and then Steve started these two!  I had never had contact with other tie-dyers except for the occasional one I met at craft fairs, and the help and inspiration I have found, first at Michael's, then at Paula & Steve's has helped me to continue improving my knowledge and techniques.  Kinda like today's version of the old coffee house artist's gatherings that happened back in the days of yesteryear!
Anyway, hope you can find time to check in with us, as well as finding time to dye!  I had three whole days this weekend to work on some dyeing, and it was wonderful!  And good luck at the Farmer's market... I have thought about signing up for ours, but I am booked into a 2-day show next month, and I think I've got all I can handle right now just getting ready for that.  First one I've done in awhile, and just trying to envision how I'm going to get two display racks and two closets full of tie-dye into my car is giving me sleepless nights!  wink

Happy dyeing,

Judy
