I finally got around to taking pictures of my work and getting it up on the internet. If you want to see, here's a link! http://www.flickr.com/photos/93147386@N00/

Great work!  I especially like the multicolor mesh shirt!  Years ago, I saw someone in an outfit that had a similar technique, and I always wanted to try it, but couldn't find instructions.  I'm assuming you use 2 shirts?  I would love to hear about your process.

Very unique.....truly wearable art. Are they for your own enjoyment
or do you sell them? I've always been curious about where one
markets those one of a kind pieces of clothing.

Well, all the clothing happens to fit me, because I'm always around. I wear some of the items, but I still don't have the courage to wear some of them.

I am looking to sell stuff like this, but I need to talk with an accountant about business taxes before I get too far into it. I am hoping to try it out at art fairs, but it depends on a few factors.

Oh, and yes, the mesh shirt is two shirts. Some things are just t-shirt material rather than being made from actual shirts.

Some of the techniques I picked up from books. Generation T by Megan Nicolay is a good one for inspiration. I think that's where I got the mesh concept. I tried to put enough of my own ideas in it, but I definately got some inspiration from there. I also got some inspiration from 99 Ways to Cut, Sew, Trim and Tie your T-shirt Into Something Special by Blakeney, Livakovic and Schultz.

That is some way cool stuff!!!!

You can always check out Etsy.com as a selling venue. I did ask our tax people last year about what it would take to do the business paperwork, but given the relatively small amount of time I currently can spend on the tie-dye and the shop (less than 10 hours a week most of the time), I'm a "hobbyist" rather than a "business."

Anyway, if you go to Etsy.com and do a search for tie-dye, you'll find some cool stuff! smiley
