I have been doing some shirts for a client, and we were trying to come up with some new color combos.  I created a 'peachy' mix with heavily diluted Dharma's Deep Orange and Bubble Gum, then combined it with their Baby Pink in a LWI, followed with pale Sage Green applied with a squirt bottle... I'm very pleased with the outcome!
Here it is:

The sage green looks darker in the picture than it actually is... sometimes I can't get my photo editor to behave!  At any rate, I have turned into an avid LWI dyer of late... and I'm finding that I use even less dye than I used to, in order to get more of the patterns to show.  This one had probably no more than 1/2 a cup of lightly mixed dyes, plus some water to further dilute them.  If I use too much liquid at normal dye strengths, the dye oversaturates and I don't get the markings.
Fun stuff!

Yes Judy, isn't lwi great! No tying and always interesting results.
Was this shirt soda ash soaked before the dye app or did you apply the soda ash after the dye?
Excellent pastels.

I have always added the soda ash after the dyebath... I struggled with LWI for awhile before trying Paula Burch's method found here: http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/lowwaterimmersion.shtml
However, I am intrigued by the results you got with your post from Feb. 2nd under Dyeing Techniques.  The only reason I don't go that way is I have more control over how much soda ash solution goes in to the dye bath, and I don't have to turn the garment over to dye the other side.  Plus, the regular LWI only takes a couple hours from start to finish instead of 20-24 hours.
One thing I did borrow from you is using a the squirt bottle to apply some of the dyes.  Originally, I was overwhelming the piece with dye by pouring all the colors over... now I am using very small quantities of the darker colors, which allows the lighter ones to show through better.   Thanks for the idea!
