Hi folks! I haven't popped in here in a looooong ol' time!  Our family has just been going through it..

Anyway, here's my latest:  A marbled bamboo diaper and coordinating appliqued tshirt.  I'm really loving the marble technique lately!

These are darling, Rebekah!  I have wanted to try marbelling for a long time, but keep shying away... I'm unfamiliar with all the chemicals involved and wonder if you could talk about what you use and how you got started?  And what kind of paints do you usually use?
Thanks!

Thanks for the kudos, Judy!!

I used dharma's tutorial to get started.

getting better and better!

Thank you!  It's taking practice to get the look that I want; I'm still not "THERE" yet, but I'm getting closer to what is in my head.  Here's another on prefold diapers:

Oh, not really marbling, then, but shaving cream dyeing! (Or foam dyeing.)

I was trying to figure out going through the whole process of marbling, floating the special inks on top of the sizing, and all that. Foam dyeing with Procion dyes is a much more attractive idea. smiley

I like it. Marbling was something that I always wanted to try. I did some trials with MX dyes back in 2003 and never got the same results later. I hope that someone else will try this foam marbling too so we can learn more about it together.

I've done a tiny bit of playing with shaving foam and dye, but have been wanting to do more, especially with more strongly mixed dyes for a vibrant result. I've just used normal strength dye previously and randomly squirted onto a bed of shaving foam, swirled it a bit, and reversed item to do the other side. The results were quite pastel so I'll use concentrated dye next time. I like the look of the tutorial where the dye is mixed in with the foam (did I see that on dharma? its not the same as the one linked above), then placed onto a foam and water base. I'm trying that method next, will share how I go Jaja, would love to see your results too Smiley I like your top, how did you do that one?

this is a tutorial from The Indigo Onion that is up on Dharma now, I just thought I'd add this link in the thread

Ezri, it's been a long time, but I'd say I did it this way: I made bed of three foam colors in form of stripes (green, orange, blue). Then I have squirted violet dye mixed into foam in thin stripes across the foam bed. Them combed it in a direction as first wide stripes were going. Lay soda soaked top onto it from both sides (good to have separation layer in between front and back side).

Thats a good point to have a seperation layer- I hadn't thought of that and have had fun trying to keep the item from getting too messy, seeping through. I like how you've done it differently to the others I've seen also. The possibilities are endless really, I look forward to having a go. I've got a few orders but might get some play time tomorrow with any luck Smiley
