Is there any reason not to put soda ash and thickener in the dye at the same time? I mean, in one bottle?

I really need to learn patience. Next I'll be asking you if I can actually cram myself into the microwave and turn it on WHILE I'm folding up my shirts...

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can put the soda ash, sodium alginate and dye in the same bottle (usually you would also use urea too).
Then you don't have to soda soak the fabric.
I mix up sodium alginate and urea in a jar and keep it in my dye fridge. It can be as thick or thin as you want it - I mix fairly thick.
I also keep the soda ash water in plastic gallon bottles in my work area.
And I keep my dye mixed as dye concentrates in the dye fridge too. I use little juice bottles.
