News: Happy Birthday iTieDye!

This day marks the fourth birthday of iTieDye--my first foray into a dynamic website. Now iTieDye shares a server with many other projects: wikis, blogs, ecommerce stores.

As longs as there is traffic iTieDye will remain as a noncommercial and advertising free source of tie-dye information.

In the upcoming few months we will migrate to yet another server with more resources and up to date software funded by my online store iBlankWear.

I finished one of the 2 queen sheet sets.
They are from Ikea - a 230 thread count - tied fairly dry (artificial sinew), but spritzed with water along fan fold lines - dyed fairly dry - activated dye.
These are the sheets that look like a fine twill weave, medium thick material; I thought it would be hard for the dye to penetrate, but these sheet shlurped up the dye - the dye didn't ball up on the surface, just went right in.

The pillowcases are a 130 thread count - take the dye differently - dye balls up on dry, but quickly penetrates.

And here is the second sheet set - same materials as the above, also in queen size.
Here are the pillow cases:

And the top sheet:

The design on the pillowcases and bottom sheet are supposed to be fish - I wanted more fish on the bottom sheet, but more folds were seriously hard to fanfold, so it only got four.
The top sheet is a eight fold wedge start of a Tom&Martine star - the very middle was the actual tie for three ties and then the rest was swirled/fanfolded and dyed different on both sides in the wedges - I kept the middle free of the wedge dyes so it would stay gold like the fishes. I not sure how the cross aspect got in the middle; it was a surprize. Why I like tiedye - the surprizes!

Folding a large piece of cloth into a wedge of eighths and then swirling, is an effective way of dealing with the largeness, taking it down to a very manageable size to dye, with good results.

I like best your creative pillows ideas. Fishes are my favourites.
In the first time I was missing duvet-cases, then I realized that bedding habits differs througout the world.

Duvet cases..........
I've made duvet cases - two sheets sewn together with some type of closing on one end. I used hook and loop tape.
I've dyed several duvet covers by LWI. I've been thinking about tie dying two sheets separately and then making the duvet cover.

Yeah, in the usa, most people use a top sheet and then the blankets. My mother taught me to make perfect hospital corners at the ends of the bed, tch. As an adult, I dislike having my feet/toes squished down at the end of the bed - when sleeping in a strange bed, I undo all the tucking in of the bedcovers. Long ago, watching an Ingmar Bergman movie, a character got up from bed and flopped the feather comforter about on the bed and the bed was made. I was sold. That's the way to make a bed!
