whats a good fabric for tapestries and can i get it at the average joanns? i usually use muslin cotton but it doesnt take the dye very well. the dyes run and mix together. can you help?

I use muslin for almost all of the tapestries I do....can't say that it's given me any trouble. I soak in soda ash and spin out in the washing machine and then tie damp and dye damp. I buy the fabric at joannes too so I'm at a loss what is giving you the trouble.
