So... my colors came today.  I mixed to get red, orange, green, true blue, and then, mixed #44 and 3// black together.  I dyed a diaper flat red white and blue... the red has a yellow halo though, making the white look yellow, not good for red white and blue.  Did I do something wrong.?  What can I do so this doesn't happen again?  The flats were only slightly damp, does that effect it?

Also, deep yellow seems more like light orange.  Is lemon yellow better for yellow?

I have flats and tees in soda ash, I'm looking forward to experimenting with my new colors tomorrow!!

If you don't want yellow halos around your reds, you should mix orange MX-2R with red MX-5B to make your reds. As I wrote before, "fuchsia plus lemon yellow will give you yellow halos around red when you tie-dye, but light red plus strong orange stays together without separating out on the fabric."

I use Fire Red from Dharma for my r/w/b and thicken it. And for a yellow's
I use in gradations from light to darker, citrus, lemon, clear, deep or golden yellow.
Lemon being the brightest "pure" yellow.

Thanks Paula!  I think the first time I read it, I wasn't sure what halos were!  I ordered deep Orange so I will be halo free for my red white and blue dying.
