Every once in awhile I decide to try a mandala on a shirt... usually, I'm disappointed in the results.  But I watched a video on youtube by tie dye Ron and even though he was tying a tapestry, I decided to try his method on a 2xl shirt.  Need more dye in some spots, but the design is the best I have done yet on a shirt!

Here's the youtube link to his video if you want to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2wpaD5iaUo

First love the shirt Judy. I have been a fan of yours and I love all your stuff that I have seen. Second I watched the video you posted and the first part of his Mandalla and its the same as this guys http://www.tie-dyes.com/HowToTieDyeStarsBook.html  the only thing I saw that wasnt the same was the tip. You might want to check out the book to help with your Mandalla just an idea. But the one you have posted is really really good better then some that I have done. I hope you keep trying to make mandallas. Keep up the great work. LRC

Ditto on the Richard Rogers book.  That guy set the curve for stars and mandalas...

Thanks for the kind words on my mandala!  I will definitely check out the book... I learn best from demos, but have the basic understanding down... just want to improve my dye application skills and learn new patterns!  Stay tuned...

I've never had much luck with mandalas on t-shirts, but this one turned out interesting.

It was a small shirt and lightweight knit cloth. I didn't like it at first, but now whenever I look at the picture, it grows on me.
It was given away as a b-day present and the child loves it.
