Patching a small hole in an already dyed tapestry

I just washed out a tapestry I made using a sheet from a garage sale and discovered I made a small hole in the fabric with the hemostats. Other that this darn hole it's probably the best tapestry I've made so I hate to have to scrap it. Any ideas on how a small tear can be repaired? Would fabric glue hold it?

I'd rather take another fabric and sew it undeneath toren area to strenghten it.  Maybe fabric was weared off in that place, check it before you start to repair it.

Thank you Jaja,I believe you're right.....just gluing would only be a temporary fix. I better patch the back and be more careful next time!

  One way to do it is find the lightest weight iron on patch you can for the job. Iron it on the back flat, no wrinkles or gathering. ..."but the other side will show patch through the hole"... Yes, but then with some scissors cut some fuzz from some colored yarns, or the taps edge fray, in the appropriate colors. Make tiny cuts between fingers till chopped and some tiny piles are there(yarn is fuzzier, thus better).
  In the visible part of the hole where you can see the patch,  smear a bit of permanent fabric glue with a lefthand finger. Then with righthand fingers, press the colored fuzz into the areas needed to match the surrounding design, might take alot to conceal the patch. Choose the best patch color to begin with.. Try to keep your right hand free of glue. This works great for small wholes in shirts, usually one color of fuzz will do. A large hole in a tap is ok too, just more colors and actual "fuzz art" involved. Also, a tap is viewed from a distance.
